I'm working on the beginnings of an über-techie post, one that will apply only to people who use a web browser other than Internet Explorer. When searching for a little technical data on Opera, I found this quote:
How to prove instantly to firefox fan that opera is better than firefox?
You can't. Which browser is better is subjective and a matter of opinion. If you try to convince someone that Opera is better, you just convince them that Opera users are annoying. If someone tries to convince you that Firefox is better, they just convince you that Firefox users are annoying.
So I guess that makes me annoying. On a few occasions I've circled a sparring partner, teeth bared and hurling spears, over which browser is better. It's an argument no one can win and I always part on friendly terms. And by "part on friendly terms" I really mean "walk away plotting to kill the other person later."

The other day I found a new WordPress plugin that caught my eye: Easy Expand. It creates a bit of AJAX to tweak the way WP uses the special <!–more–> tag and it seemed pretty interesting.
So I visited the site only to find the download corrupt. I wanted to leave a comment notifying the author of this but comments are only open to registered users. Registration is open, so I signed up. After logging in I discovered something quite curious. The administrator has blog set so new users are automatically at WP's Author level. Which means that I unexpectedly found myself with the ability to write my own posts on her blog.
I resisted the temptation to write a post like, "You're a tool. Check your security." I left my comment (which was moderated) and went about my day. This morning I had a chipper e-mail response informing me that the corrupt download was fixed. I then told her about the unusually high new user level.
She told me that's exactly what she intended, encouraged me to write as many posts as I please and suggested I read her other posts to learn why. So I did. She's got a grand total of three posts. One is about the plugin and the other two are about making money with Google Adsense.
So I wrote my post about blocking web ads, including Adsense ads, with Firefox. I somehow doubt this is what Ms. Something-or-other had in mind. I'm curious to see if she lets the post stay.

Yeah, so I looked into it a little more. CSS-3 isn't as big a deal as I thought it was going to be.
FF 1.5 is still pretty damn cool, though.

It's here! It's here!
Firefox 1.5 gets released tonight. It's out of beta and it now supports CSS-3. Woohoo!
("Woohoo" along with me. Trust me, that's cool.)

Site Meter tells me 28% of my visitors are using Firefox. That's way too low. Firefox is the coolest web browser ever. I've used dozens, so you can take my word for it. No matter what you do, Firefox has an extension to make it easier for you. I've got extensions to spellcheck my comment posts, display a custom news ticker, remove ads (or any other content I choose), monitor my Gmail account, give me weather alerts, sync bookmarks between all my computers, and a lot of other things too. The damn thing does everything. Today I sat around drinking beer while Firefox mowed my lawn.
The reason I'd decided to evangelize today is that I've just found an extension that allows you to apply your own style rules to any site you like. So now that I've installed and tweaked it, I can make any page look the way I want it. Ugly background? Hard to read? Layout problems? I can fix all of that.
Go get Firefox. And then go get URI id and ChromEdit. It is so worth it.
