Continuing what I began last year, here is my list of favorites for 2006. Since I've been writing a lot more haiku, and I'm more proud of my haiku, I've decided this year to include a few of them among my favorites. Unlike posts, they're reprinted here rather than linked (after all, who wants to follow a link to read three short lines?) and they are not sorted by month.
The best of the posts
January - Half-assed entertainment review: King Kong - My mondo review of Peter Jackson's big budget remake.
February - Newman! - A bile-filled diatribe about one of the most annoying people in my world.
March - Half-assed entertainment review: Sin City Deluxe Edition - Originally written for publication (which never worked out anyway), this is my review of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's super deluxe DVD Sin City.
April - Yeah, we're in synch and In synch, part 2 - A two part story about the horrors of buying cat litter.
May - Barry fucking Bonds - A long-winded rant about what I loved about… well, you know.
June - I don't get… and Iron, gold - I really couldn't decide which I should pick for this month. The first link is a thought or two on the Duke lacrosse rape case, the second is a rare animal indeed… a full poem.
July - Half-assed entertainment review: Superman Returns - I wrote three half-assed entertainment reviews in 2006. You'll note all three of them are on this list. I should really write these more often.
August - About last night - A post where I talk about a dream. There are celebrities, beer and zombies. Good times. Yup. Good times.
September - Have a haiku.
October - Caught up at last - I guess October was a slow month. The best I can offer up is a post where I prattle about Battlestar Galactica.
November - Sir Fish and the Angry Mushroom and Good luck with that - Sir Fish, something of a fractured fairy tale, is definitely a reader favorite, but I think my blathering about the PlayStation3 is my favorite for this month. Of course, I might only think that because this is the only post in which I've implemented those pretty CSS pull quotes.
December - How-to: Import posts and comments from Blogger Beta into WordPress - December was probably one of my most boring months ever. And it would have to be if I think the best post was a blogging how-to.

City of cities,
the city above cities-
a jewel no more.
