WP Grins 1.1.1.1 - Just to be clear, I did not write this plugin. Alex King wrote it. I have merely modified it for WordPress 2.x compatibility.

When I looked for a plugin to add that smiley bar above the comment box, I tried out several. I created my own solution (which is a not a plugin, so unfortunately I can't easily share it) because I couldn't find something ready-made that did exactly what I wanted.

Alex's plugin came closest to what I had in mind. If you like my smiley bar, you'll probably be pleased with my modified version of Alex's plugin. This version is for WP 2.x only. If you're using WP 1.2 or 1.5, you should use Alex's original plugin.

Update - Alex has updated WP Grins to version 1.5. His new version is fully compatible with both WordPress 2.0.x and 2.1. I strongly recommend you disregard my versions and instead download directly from Alex. I'll leave my versions available for reference purposes.

Compatibility:

  • Known to be compatible with: WordPress 2.0.2 - 2.0.9, 2.1 - 2.1.1

  • Should be compatible with: all versions 2.0 and higher

  • Not compatible with: WordPress 1.x

License:

  • Alex is not completely clear about how his original is licensed, but the plugin does contain language from the GNU GPL, so I assume that license applies to his work, and therefore my derivative as well.

Change log:

  • Alex King has updated his original plugin. Get version 1.5 straight from the source.

  • v1.1.1.1 - Released 2006-10-13. Changed plugin and author urls to remove "www."

  • v1.1.1 - Released 2006-06-06. Initial release.
